Photographer of the Year
We’ve all seen them in our inbox. Those emails that try and hook you with, "Congratulations! You’re the winner!" But this one. This one was real, not some pesky pop-up ad. I’d won Travel + leisure’s annual photo contest. The prize? A dream trip to Thailand, including stays at some of the best resorts in Southeast Asia. And the title of Photographer of the Year from Travel + Leisure.
First, let’s rewind to how it all began. It’s the end of 2017 and Kathy, my Mom’s friend, sends my Mom this T+L contest where the winner gets a trip to Chiang Mai. My mom sends the contest to me. I enter a portfolio of ten photographs to T+L. They pick the finalists for the contest and do a writeup on each person. Heres mine.
